EXPERIENCE

Strategy advisor on business transition, ESG and climate-related risk.

At the end of 2021, Susan Farrell launched a small advisory practice working with executives and Boards as they evaluate new business strategies in response to changing market conditions and stakeholder demands around climate and the environment.

Previously, Susan was Vice President, Climate and Sustainability at IHS Markit, a professional services firm of 15,000 experts in energy, automotive and other industrial sectors. She founded an executive briefings practice, designed to distill complex business, environmental and social analysis into concise views ready for executive discussion and investment action. Her advisory work included public and private companies as well as government ministries and departments.

Susan led the long-term climate and energy scenarios practice at IHS Markit, which outlined different potential market assumptions and outcomes that would influence future business success. She worked with executive teams as they assessed climate-related risk, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting and future business strategies.

Prior to joining IHS Markit in 2000, Susan led strategic planning at two large engineering and construction firms in the energy space.  As a member of the respective executive teams, she provided assessments of investment strategies for products and countries.

Susan has a BA in Economics from Brown University and an MBA from Boston University.  She lived in Europe for ten years and has traveled extensively throughout her career.  She currently resides in Washington, D.C.

Susan understands the need for fact-based evaluation of political, economic and social dimensions affecting our industry in order to be forward-thinking and anticipatory. Her ability to grasp the strategic challenges of a business in transition and communicate relevant information used in the decision-making process is one of her strongest attributes and separates her from her peers.
